An introduction to the project NEXT I, which documents the “present moment” of emerging young performing artists and seeks to extend the time that exists beyond the stage.
NEXT I is a project that records the current realities of young performing artists and creates an additional artistic scene that can continue even after a performance, which is typically completed on stage has come to an end. By capturing the faces and gazes of emerging artists working across various performing arts fields such as theatre, music, and dance, the project draws attention to the time and worlds that exist beyond performances that vanish in an instant.
Rather than explaining or defining artists, this project proposes a moment of looking—of spending time with them. The recorded images are presented through an exhibition, where they encounter audiences and quietly reveal the sensibilities, energy, and individual directions of young performing artists.
In addition to the artists participating in this edition of NEXT I, the activities of a wide range of emerging performing artists can also be found through the Seoul Culture & Arts Support System, Art to Job.

청년 공연예술가의 ‘지금’을 기록하고, 무대 이후의 시간을 확장하는 프로젝트 〈NEXT I〉에 대한 안내입니다.
〈NEXT I〉는 청년 공연예술가들의 현재를 기록하고, 무대 위에서 완결되는 공연 이후에도 이어질 수 있는 또 하나의 예술적 장면을 만들어가는 프로젝트입니다. 연극, 음악, 무용 등 다양한 공연예술 분야에서 활동하는 신진 예술가들의 얼굴과 시선을 기록함으로써, 찰나에 사라지는 공연 너머의 시간과 세계에 주목하고자 합니다.
본 프로젝트는 예술가를 설명하거나 규정하기보다, 예술가를 바라보는 시간을 제안합니다. 기록된 이미지는 전시를 통해 관람자와 만나며, 청년 공연예술가들이 지닌 감각과 에너지, 그리고 각자의 방향성을 조용히 드러냅니다.
이번 〈NEXT I〉 프로젝트에 참여한 예술가들을 비롯하여, 다양한 신진 공연예술가들의 활동은 서울문화예술지원시스템 ‘예술로 자브로’를 통해서도 확인하실 수 있습니다.
