Sarah Cunningham’s practice explores the intersections between nature and human experience through painting. Moving fluidly between abstraction and figuration, her works reconstruct landscapes of memory and perception using vivid color and organic forms. The layered rhythms and flows that emerge across the canvas evoke traces of time and space, inviting viewers into a sensorial field that transcends representation. Through this painterly language, Cunningham expands the possibilities of abstraction, transforming it into a site where emotion and recollection converge to form new landscapes. Her works ultimately reimagine painting as both a material and experiential space, where presence and memory are continually negotiated.

Born in Nottingham in 1993, Cunningham studied at Loughborough University and earned her MA from the Royal College of Art in London. She currently lives and works in London, and has exhibited internationally at institutions such as Lisson Gallery in Los Angeles and London, Almine Rech in Aspen, IFA in Vancouver, and Galerie Max Hetzler in Berlin. Her works are held in prominent public and private collections, including the Al Thani Collection in Qatar, the Sander Collection in Germany, The Perimeter in the UK, and the Kinsing Arts Foundation in Taiwan.

커닝햄은 1993년 영국 노팅엄에서 태어나 러프버러 대학교에서 학부 과정을 마치고, 런던 왕립예술학교에서 석사 과정을 수료하였다. 현재 런던을 기반으로 활동하며, 로스앤젤레스와 런던의 리슨 갤러리를 비롯해 Aspen의 Almine Rech, 벤쿠버 IFA, 베를린 Galerie Max Hetzler 등 국제적인 무대에서 개인전과 단체전에 참여해왔다. 또한 그녀의 작업은 Al Thani Collection(카타르), Sander Collection(독일), The Perimeter(영국), Kinsing Arts Foundation(대만) 등 다수의 주요 기관과 컬렉션에 소장되어 있다.
