Tomo Campbell

Tomo Campbell is recognized for his abstracted reinterpretations of traditional and often archaic subjects, such as hunting scenes, equestrian formations, funerary parades, and courtly gatherings. His compositions resist fixed narratives, instead unfolding through rhythmic brushstrokes and layered gestures that dissolve and reassemble before the viewer’s eyes. The textured painterly surfaces—often reminiscent of Rococo ornamentation or woven tapestry—generate multiple points of focus, inviting the gaze to drift across the canvas. Campbell’s practice explores the balance between movement and stillness, structure and collapse, conjuring a world that hovers between recollection and imagination.

He received his BA from Central Saint Martins, London, and served as the first artist-in-residence at the English National Ballet between 2012 and 2013. His solo exhibitions include Cob Gallery (London, UK), Double Q Gallery (Hong Kong), and County Gallery (Palm Beach, USA). He has participated in group exhibitions at Timothy Taylor (London, UK), Bo Lee and Workman (Bruton, UK), Makasiini Contemporary (Turku, Finland), and Asia Art Centre (Taiwan, China). Campbell’s works are held in major collections such as the Simon Nixon Collection and the DLA Piper Art Collection, and he continues to actively exhibit across the UK and internationally.

캠벨은 런던 센트럴 세인트 마틴(Central Saint Martins)에서 학사 학위를 취득하였으며, 2012년부터 2013년까지 영국 국립 발레단(English National Ballet)의 첫 레지던스 작가로 활동하였다. Cob Gallery(런던), Double Q Gallery(홍콩), County Gallery(팜비치, 미국)에서 개인전을 개최하였으며, Timothy Taylor(런던), Bo Lee and Workman(브루턴), Makasiini Contemporary(투르쿠), Asia Art Centre(타이완) 등 국제적 기관에서 열린 그룹전에 참여하였다. 그의 작품은 Simon Nixon Collection, DLA Piper Art Collection 등에 소장되었으며, 런던을 비롯한 해외 무대에서 활발한 활동을 이어왔다.
